Help Code 597 was named after the California Penal Code for Animal Abuse & Neglect. This foundation is dedicated to providing charitable and educational services, to pet owners to improve the health, safety and lives of their animals. This foundation is unique since we work directly with Animal Control Officers, giving them the tools to work as social workers not just policemen. Many times animal control officers go out in the field and give pet owners two options, fix the problem or surrender their dog. In many cases, pet owners just do not have the means to provide for their animals. They love their animals but cannot provide the best care or just don't have the correct information to give that animal a healthier life....being forced to surrender their dogs to the shelters. Code 597 is designed to keep animals out of shelters.
